About

Hi! My name is Denise Bernardi and I’ve been working with diverse learners for over 20 years. I am a therapeutic tutor who works with clients who present with profiles that are unique or have been misunderstood.  Students may struggle because of a language based disability, nonverbal learning disorder, developmental delay, autism, fragile x, dyscalculia, attention deficit disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, PANS/PANDAS, anxiety, and/or depression.

I work with students of ALL ages.

I empower students through their strengths and guide them to create goals. I utilize student goals to motivate them through their work and utilize time management strategies. I work with students teaching them how to advocate for themselves.  I provide flexible tutoring and coaching (comprehensive combinations) for students.

I have a Massachusetts teaching license in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education. My classroom teaching experience includes working in the Needham and Natick school systems.

Before starting out on my own, I was an educational therapist at a neuropsychology center. There I worked with a wide range of students and gained more knowledge about the complexities of various profiles. Additionally, I completed programs that enhanced the learning of clients and expanded my work to include adults who looked for support going back to school, managing a project, or transitioning to a new role. Through my work I collaborate with neuropsychologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, parents, and school personnel. The process is grounded in the growth mindset and evidence based best practices.

I believe all students can reach their goals with the right support. My passion is to create a positive relationship that fosters academic development along with social and emotional growth.
